I have just finished watching Spartacus-Vengeance but I still haven blog Spartacus-Gods of the Arena. Let me do this blogging before I continue to blog about Vengeance. Spartacus-Gods of the Arena is set to portray years before Spartacus came to the ludus. Young Quintus and Lucretia were not powerful enough in the ludus and Quintus's father, Titus was still alive. Titus was the true master of ludus and was away in the beginning of the series. Both Lucretia and Quintus led the House of Batiatus. Back then, Lucretia had a personal slave named Melita before Naevia became her personal slave. Melita was high in slaves' ranking and was a wife of Oenomaus. Oenomaus and Melita's bestfriend was Gannicus, the champion of Capua. Gannicus was a playboy and has laid with many whores before. Naevia was a low ranking slave and was following Melita. Her bestfriend and childhood friend, Donna was her only companion in the ludus. Both were virgin and beautiful that time. Quintus met Crixus in a market and bought him to become his slave and determined to train him as a champion. Oenomaus was not yet a Doctore and he had just recovered from the battle with Theokoles. His lost in the battle made Quintus lost favour towards him. Quintus had eyes on Gannicus to become the champion. Jealousy arouse from Oenomaus. The Doctore back then was a strict man who trained all the gladiators. Crixus wanted to become a champion and learned from Gannicus. Meanwhile, Lucretia invited her bestfriend, Gaia to the house as a guest. Immoral Gaia persuaded young Lucretia to get laid with the slaves but Lucretia had heart only to Quintus. Gaia was attracted to Quintus when she saw both Quintus and Lucretia had sexual intercourse. As time passed, she slowly joined the couple in the act. Quintus had enemies back then, Tullius and Varrius. Both competed with Quintus. Tullius was the one to order whose gladiators to fight in the premier of arena. The arena was just started to be completed back then. Solonius remained a faithful friend to Quintus and eased his burden no matter what happened. Ashur and other Syrian slaves were also brought into the ludus in this series. Ashur was no fighter and the reason why he was given the mark of the brotherhood was his ability to translate for his fighter-friend. On one occasion, Melita was required to get laid with Gannicus in front of the noble guests. Both dare not to object and gave in. In the mean time, Oenomaus accidentally killed the Doctore and he was made the Doctore. Gannicus found that he fell in love with Melita and kept on bothering her without the knowledge of Oenomaus. Melita felt the same but was running away from it. Titus belittled his son, Quintus and blamed his son's failure on Lucretia. Naevia and Donna's relationship was severed when Donna was chose to have sex with Crossotius but not Naevia. Naevia tried to make amendments but Donna avoided her for shame and guilt. When Naevia confronted her, Donna admitted that she felt embarrassed. On one occasion when Gaia wanted to help Lucretia to secure the house, she slept with Tullius but was killed by him. Titus wanted to keep it a secret as Gaia was a Roman. He made up a story telling the Romans that Gaia was drunk and fell of the cliff. Lucretia was angered by her death and vowed for vengeance. Quintus wanted to kill his father but did not do so. Both Quintus and Lucretia agreed to leave the ludus. Just by the time when they were about to leave, Titus fell ill and Lucretia fed him honey wine, a gift from Tullius. That time, Quintus and Oenomaus were away from the ludus. Melita wanted to have final drink with Gannicus as he will be sold to the other master for defeating in a battle. Both Melita and Titus drank the wine and met their end. Lucretia secretly poisoned the wine so that Titus' death could be blamed on Tullius and Gaia's death to be avenged. Lucretia did not know that Melita drank too and was saddened for her death. Naevia was made her personal slave. Naevia stole Gaia's money and gave it to Donna so that she could escape. Donna escaped from the house. Quintus, Gannicus and Oenomaus vowed to kill Tullius for this. They abducted Tullius and Varrius. Solonius secretly made a deal with Varrius by converting all Varrius' gladiators to him. His act severed Quintus and his bond. Meanwhile, Tullius was severely injured by the men and was concealed within the bricks under the arena alive, waiting for his death. Before the premiere battle took place, Donna was among the slaves captured for escaping and was executed in front of Naevia. Naevia could only cry for her friend. The premier battle of the arena had Gannicus, Ashur and Crixus fighting against 20 other gladiators. They outwitted most of them and when Ashur wanted to hurt Gannicus so as to become the champion, Crixus made his leg crippled and he lost in the battle. Crixus then lost too and Gannicus won after killing the last standing gladiator. Solonius then tricked Varrinius to grant Gannicus freedom which made Quintus hate Solonius. When freedom had been granted, Gannicus left the ludus as the first slave to become a free man.
